![]() I tried my original 4gb HD and the system runs just fine without crashing. Finally i figured the HD must be defective (accounting for my previous crashes with the OS installed). Sometimes it just freezes, other times the screen changes to all these pscychodelic colours, slowly changing! I formatted the HD several different ways, including using Norton Utilities to write zeros to all sectors, formatting on a PC, anything i could think of. I tried over and over, and it always crashes near the end of disc 1 but always at a different point. About 90% through basesystem part2, the computer froze. Nothing fully fixed it so I finally decided to reformat the HD and do a fresh clean install.Īfter formatting, I tried to install from my panther disc 1 by booting from CD (holding 'C'). It does not store any personal data.I was previously having frequent problems with my computer freezing.
